Press Gazette for sale

Press gazette reports on itself this morning that part owner and investor Matthew Freud intends to sell up. Press Gazette has had a difficult time under it's new owners with continued non co-operation from national newspaper groups in connection with their British Press Awards. Freud has recognised that he is part of the problem and that the conflict of interest between his PR activities and ownership of the BPA will always alienate sone newspapers.

Press Gazette deserves to survive. It is the only credible independent view of british journalism. Let's hope a saviour can be found.

The Business Subs Campaign

I don't want you to think I have it in for The Business but you will remember that Andrew Neil, its publisher, has promised a 50000 circulation of his new look title (see earlier posts) and I have said this is the bonkers publishing idea of the year. Roy Greenslade, media commentator for the Guardian, has decided he agrees. I received subs mailer from them this morning. Both my name and job title were wrong.
